Experience
Corporate location and investment attraction
For more than twenty years, I have been helping companies and public sector organizations to make the most of foreign direct investment opportunities. My bio provides more information on my professional background. I have worked with hundreds of clients from around the world. The following are just a few examples of my project experience:
Corporate location projects:

Assisted a leading German retailer to identify locations for multilingual customer service centers in both Western and Central and Eastern Europe.

Helped a multinational specialty chemicals company to evaluate location scenarios and sites for the consolidation of its research and development activities in Europe.

Worked with an Asian automotive OEM to evaluate locations, identify the optimal site and secure incentives for a $1 billion passenger vehicle manufacturing plant in Brazil.

Supported one of the world’s largest IT services companies in developing a global location strategy and in evaluating emerging locations for new delivery centers worldwide.

Helped a major Tier-1 automotive supplier to evaluate locations and sites and negotiate government incentives for two new manufacturing plants in Central and Eastern Europe.
Investment attraction projects:

Developed the investment promotion strategy for the Spanish region of Catalonia’s investment attraction agency, including a 2-year action plan for each of the agency’s overseas offices involved in investment attraction.

Served as the European Director for the Virginia Economic Development Partnership for three years, responsible for investment attraction throughout continental Europe. Responsibilities included generating a pipeline of qualified investment leads, working directly with potential European investors, identifying opportunities to promote Virginia and accompanying the Governor of Virginia to meetings with corporate executives during regular visits to Europe.

Worked with the investment promotion agency of the Copenhagen region to develop and implement a new approach for investment attraction. The project involved a series of workshops with the agency’s leadership, stakeholders and partners, coaching individual members of the investment attraction team as well as targeted business attraction initiatives in areas such as smart city technology and e-health.
